The safety and wellbeing of children is a priority for our club. We believe every child has the right to participate in football in an environment that is respectful, positive and free from harm.
Creating a child-safe environment is a shared responsibility between the club, committee members, coaches, managers, volunteers, parents, carers and spectators.
Woonona Football Club supports the child safety, safeguarding and member protection policies, procedures and guidance provided by Football South Coast, Football NSW and Football Australia.

Woonona Football Club aims to ensure that training sessions, match days and club activities are conducted in environments that are open, visible and appropriate for young players.
At training sessions, there should always be at least one other parent, carer or responsible adult present in addition to the coach. Coaches should avoid situations where they are alone with a child or where a player may feel uncomfortable in a one-on-one environment.
On match days, coaches, managers, volunteers, committee members and ground marshals help provide a safe and welcoming environment for players and families.
Parents and carers are encouraged to support this by demonstrating respectful behaviour, helping children understand where they can go if they need assistance, and raising any concerns early.
Younger players should be reminded that if they feel lost, upset, unsafe or unsure while at Ocean Park, they should go directly to the canteen area or approach a coach, manager, ground marshal or committee member for help.
Woonona Football Club requires relevant coaches, managers, committee members and volunteers involved in child-related roles to hold a valid Working With Children Check.
Adults involved with junior teams, training sessions, match days or club activities must be appropriately registered with the club and approved before commencing duties.
Woonona Football Club encourages anyone who has concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child to raise those concerns so they can be addressed.
Concerns may be raised with a team coach, team manager, committee member or the club’s Member Protection Information Officer.
The Member Protection Information Officer can provide guidance and support if someone is unsure how to raise an issue or what steps should be taken.
All concerns are taken seriously and will be handled in accordance with club policies, relevant football governing body guidelines and applicable child safety requirements.
